My Experience in Campus Interview – TCS

TCS – Asia’s number 1 software company came to our college on 3rd August for campus placements. It was supposed to start at 9AM, but as usual Indian standard time… it started at 11AM approx. It was a really long wait. I was filled with nervousness, excitement; it was a jumbled feeling. Finally my turn for online test came at 1 and it was conducted for one hour. They gave instructions on how to answer the online test. It was an AC room and all of us were sweating due of tension. The moment I saw the paper I was stunned. English was like French for me. An error page occurred on my screen and hence I asked a person from TCS about it. He told me that it wasn’t an error page but it was matching the following, which I had no clue about (hmmm….). Then the Maths aptitude was ok…. Critical reasoning was horrible. I didn’t know where to start reading the question from. I felt VTU exams are much better.

Finally the test got over. The result was announced around 2.45. the moment they called my number (unique NM144) I was totally elated; it was a hilarious moment for me.

The following night was full of fear and nervousness. The whole night I kept thinking of the interview. There was no hunger, no sleep. The next day was the-day of my life 4th August (I can never forget the date). It was the first interview of my life. We were called at 8.30. They arrived at 10. My turn of interview was at 3.45 (this is all to say that how much we need to wait… just imagine… with lot many tensions…. Horrible na…). I dint even had my breakfast in the morning, so literally the rats were churning my stomach. By 5 o’clock I was done with all 3 interviews – technical, HR, management. Technical round was great. The delightful moment was when the interviewer complemented me for answering a question, which the last 16 students couldn’t answer (Full form of SQL – Structured Query Language) then there were series of questions revolving around C, C++, SS, DBMS. HR round was great, but his voice wasn’t that audible (may be he had throat infection…. +ve thinking… ha ha…)

In the management round they gave a feedback that “I am very talkative” (which I am…., no doubt!!!) Finally I was done with all the rounds at around 5 o’clock. I broke my fast by having snacks.

Then the results were announced at 7.30. And the moment they called my number, it was one of the happiest, inexpressible and unforgettable moments of my life. I can still feel the vibrancies in my parent’s voice, when I told them I got through. Then congratulation messages and calls started pouring in from all my well-wishers. It was the most peaceful and content sleep I had on 4th august night.

I hope all of you too get through this moment in your life. All the best……….!!!!!
